Anyone who knows me, knows that I like to shop; Confessions of a Shopaholic is not my favourite film by coincidence. So on my recent trip to Superdrug, I spotted the Silent Disco palette by MUA. This palette is only £4 and full of brights and neon colours, so naturally I assumed they would be poorly pigmented and clumpy, as a lot of drug store shadows are.
Out of sheer curiosity, I swatched it on my arm and I. WAS. SHOOK. These shadows are creamy, intensely pigmented and super easy to blend. I have honestly had high-end eyeshadows with way less colour pay off.
Naturally, after messing around with some of the colour in this palette, I made a list of Pros and Cons.
1. Amazing pigmentation- especially when considering this was only £4 for 12 shadows!
2. Creamy, soft texture that feels super smooth on the skin.
3. Really easy to blend out into either bare skin or other colours.
CONS
1. FALL OUT. Oh my god, fall out EVERYWHERE. I will be flicking blue dust off my nose for the next week.
2. Too many shimmers in the palette, only 3 out of 12 shades are matte and those 3 are not as pigmented as the others.
3. Electro (Deep indigo shimmer) and Just Dance (Darker orange shimmer) have a really weird consistency, turned out a little clumpy when applied onto the skin.
So… Would I recommend this product?
YES!
A lot of my friends are currently at uni so can’t afford to spend a lot on makeup, especially eyeshadow colours like this which they may not wear every day.
Overall I think this products quality is well worth the amount you pay for it. Although the fall out can be annoying, there are ways to work around it such as applying eye makeup before your base. The pigmentation alone had me hooked, and even though I would prefer there to be a couple more matte shades in the palette, you can’t fault the texture of the shadows or how blendable they are.
For £4, definitely worth it!
